3 - Change

Change is in the air. It is Spring, first off, and it’s finally starting to stay consistently nice out, work and life seem to be constantly evolving and I recently became a first-time aunt!

I have always said winters here in Ottawa last way too long. Come beginning of February, I’m already itching for the snow to melt and the paths to clear. Sadly, it’s not until at least mid-March that we start to get any glimmers of the warmer months to come. Granted, this winter was fairly short and sweet, but I’m still so happy that just a light(ish) jacket will suffice these days. And that means more daylight hours, outdoor adventures and sketching. A chance to keep working on my mark-making and hone some skills. This makes for a happy Amanda.

Leading up to the launch of my website just over a month ago, there was a laundry list of items to do to get everything set up and ready. Now that I’ve laid the groundwork and we’re up and running, I’m figuring out how best to switch gears to maximize growth and keep building up this small business of mine. I’m hoping to launch some art prints in the coming weeks and would like to get my cards into some brick and mortar shops in the coming months as well.

With all these ideas taking shape, I decided to let things simmer and visit my sister and brother-in-law who just had her first baby. I have become an aunt! This new little person on the scene has a big impact and it is pretty amazing to watch this new little family shift and grow into this new family dynamic.

So, lots of changes all around! Change is usually inevitable. It can be good, it can be tough, it can include some growing pains, but in it I also see potential, or possibility, and with that, a chance for learning and growth. It is in these changes, these ‘shoulder’ seasons where the real work can happen. And that is exciting! I am feeling this now, and though some of it is new and a bit uncharted, I think it is important to work with the change, find that potential and see where the strands will lead. It could be the next big thing, or it can lead to further growth and, who knows, even more change. If anything, it will keep life interesting, right?!

Thanks for supporting me and my small business and can’t wait to keep learning, growing and evolving as I go… and stay tuned for some art prints coming soon!
